A search for turtles
today, leading us to Savannah Sound, rather remote spot on the Caribbean side of
Eleuthera, but recommended for turtle viewing.
I suppose this jaunt was inspired by the sight of a turtle swimming alongside us
as we’d walked the beach a few days ago.
Commenting to Dom, property manager
for our residence, he told us that turtles have made a comeback, following the
ban a few years ago on hunting them. A positive note in this self-destructive
world of ours.
In any event, we found
the stretch of coast at the end of a rough, deserted road that led down to a
long abandoned boat slip.
Tide in, and clear,
clear water, easy to see to the bottom, but no sign of turtles today.
Just a sense of
desolation and quiet.
Still, must have been a
heck of a party at some point.
As ever, views to take
your breath away.
