. . . moving on

. . . moving on, and departing Auckland for the north, up and on to Tutukaka. A totally different scene from back home, that’s for sure. Sub-tropical vegitation, with tracts of farmland supporting cattle and sheep. Currently 28 Celcius, and humid – wow, what a difference from home.

The North Island, formed millions of years ago by volcanic activity, is now packed with the remains of the eruptions, creating high, sharp pointed hills jammed together, and challenge for New Zealands road builders, and an even greater challenge for visiting drivers !

Tutukaka coast, over the Pacific Ocean

Whangaumu Bay . . .

. . .and first dip in the Pacific.

Whangarei Falls . . .

. . .where the locals enjoy cooling off . . .

Hi guys!
Your posts are so much fun! I hope that you are almost out of your jet lag and that the new zeland driving isn't too terrifying. Your espressions say it all, especially the one where Maralyn is sitting on the steps sunning herself - sheer bliss on her face! and derek, you look pretty keen on the stuffed penguin. I miss you both.
Love em
