pool time
Just not easy to drag yourself away from the pool some days.
Even the bananas get to have a tan.
And while some try to take photos on their machines
Others avoid the sun and read.

Time flies!
Can’t believe three weeks have flown so quickly. Jenn has
been with us for the last one. An old hand now at small aircraft travel. Her
suntan rivals mine. She’s on a tanning fast-track, I think.
Beach time is always good.
Then of course, there is searching for that ideal location
on which to build a ‘wintergetawayfromitall’. In reality, the property market
has seen a bit of a boom since our first visit here last year. I take that as
a general sign of the economic times. Certainly it’s garnered mixed reactions
from the locals here. Nobody really wants Govenors Harbour or Gregory Town to
change its laid back and quiet environment.
On the other hand, ‘development’ brings work and business .
. . As ever, it’s striking the right balance that’s the challenge.
So, back to scouting out that ideal spot on the beach for a
dream vacation home . . .
Well, maybe not this year!

a blight to our world . . .
Certainly visiting down here, it's hard to deny the calm, tranquility and natural beauty of the islands and beaches, and the warm friendliness of the locals.
It doesn't seem to matter where you go, you're drawn to the ocean, and the pristine sand of the endless beaches.
Except that a glance behind you will reveal it's not so pristine. Where driftwood and the occassional glass bottle with a message inside used to get washed up, the shoreline is now littered with the garbage and bane of the planet we inhabit - plastic! There's no escaping it, and since it is not biodegradable, it will still all be here long after we're all gone.
This is an ugly reminder of the right mess we've made of our world, and it seems there's no remedy. It will only get worse. It's not until you see it in reality, rather than on the nightly news, that you realize this is duplicated on every shoreline around the globe, and we're all responsible. Or should that be, irresponsible. Chucking stuff in the ocean does not make it go away!
And what an ocean! Who could believe that so many blues exist.

Unsettled weather . . .
Perhaps unsettled, but the weather a vast improvement from home!
Rain last night . . .torrential, so we now have an 'infinity' pool . . .
. . .well, overflowing, at least.
As for the garden, so different, and exotic!
And warm winter moon . . . well, sure don't get this look at home either.

Strong winds, perfect day.
Well now, this is what it’s all about. Peace, quiet, and
the sound of the surf.
Our home away from home . . .
