Leaving France after Easter, on 26th April, we flew from La Rochelle back to Stansted. Such an easy, short flight. I think we’re both hooked on small airports. Much more user-friendly than the giant air hubs, London, Toronto etc.
So, although the date on the blog page shows 26 June, it is actually 27th April !
‘Home’ to the flat in Enfield, and the weather holds, allowing us time to explore a little locally. Myddleton house and gardens, a totally new discovery for us, and a pleasure just to walk the gardens.

Our trip rounded out with a visit to the West Country. Our Wiltshire friends Graham and Judy as guides, we viewed medieval Silbury Hill. . . .

. . . the Cherhill White horse – 18th century . . .

. . . .then onto the Avebury Ring, arguably more interesting than neighbouring Stonehenge, and certainly more accessible.

The walled gardens of Avebury Manor provided some shelter from a day that had turned our sunny, but very windy.

After further driving, a stop to capture images of Wiltshire thatched houses.

Our tour terminating in the village of Lacock, owned lock, stock and barrel by the National Trust, and location for all of the filming of ‘Cranford’, starring Maralyn’s favourite actor, Judi Dench!

Alas, not there the day we visited!
Thus ends our latest Trips and Bits.
